Choice magazine, in independent tests of popular LG fridge models in 2010, found the energy consumption in two models was higher than claimed by LG. LG was aware of the problem and had offered compensation to affected customers. In 2004, LG made 4A-rated water efficiency claims for numerous washing machines before they were certified. LG gave undertakings to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to provide appropriate corrective notices and upgrade and maintain its trade practices compliance program. In 2006, LG overstated energy efficiency on five of its air conditioner models and was again required to offer consumers rebates to cover the extra energy costs.
In March 2018, it was announced that one of LG steam clothing care system earned the Asthma and Allergy Friendly Certification. In May 2020, a deadly gas leak in LG chemical plant in Visakhapatnam killed 12 people. An investigation was set up to look upon the matter revealed many causes for the accident. Improper storage design, haphazard maintenance of the old storage tank, the temperature inside the oldest of the three storage tanks holding styrene monomer, a chemical used in making polystyrene products, rose to more than six times the permitted level due to polymerization, which resulted in the rise of heat due to the chemical reaction are the few causes. It was also suggested to move the company to a less populated area.

Picture quality is altered at an angle
Even if you have a small room, there’s no need to sacrifice on quality. For smaller viewing spaces, one of the best Sony options is the X900F 49-inch 4K smart LED TV. It packs a huge punch for a smaller model, but won’t overwhelm your apartment or family room.
The TV uses Sony’s HDR X1 Extreme processor, X-Tended Dynamic Range, and X-Motion Clarity, which are responsible for the X900F’s impressive contrast and color saturation, plus its low blur rate during action shots. The sound quality is just as strong as the picture, thanks to the inclusion of IMAX Enhanced audio, designed to replicate the immersive IMAX theater experience in your own home. It’s not overbearing—it creates a perfect surround sound system.
As with most new Sony TVs, you can also enjoy the convenience of Android TV and Google Assistant. One last tip—consider where in your home you’ll be placing your TV, as viewing abilities can be altered if you’re watching from an angle. Otherwise, we recommend it highly.

Image looks great from any viewing angle
Vibrant color hues
12 picture and five audio modes
Weak color contrast in dark scenes
A great TV doesn’t need to cost a fortune. If you’re shopping for a new Sony on a budget, don’t look past the X800G line. It’s offered in sizes from 43-inch all the way up to 75-inch, giving plenty of options for any household. This TV wins points for its accurate and vibrant colors with 4K UHD resolution with HDR10/HLG support. Plus, the image doesn't distort from any viewing angle—a claim even premium TVs can’t always make. It also has the Android operating system built-in, along with Chromecast. However, in dark or black video scenes, the color contrast could use some improvement.
The X800G also has plenty of options for accessibility, including text magnification and a screen reader, ensuring it's usable for everyone. In terms of design, it has a strong robust build—perfect for homes that may worry about pets or kids knocking over fragile screens.
Being a budget model, you’re not going to get all of the bells and whistles of a more premium product. However, there is plenty to love about the X800G series, and it’s a top choice for a home cinema experience on a budget.

Amazon Alexa/Google Assistant compatible
Dolby Vision support
No Mac/iOS support
Black hues lack depth
It’s no secret that smart TVs and streaming are the way of the future, with more and more of us ditching cable subscriptions in favor of online services like Netflix. If you’re upgrading to a smart TV to enjoy streaming, the Sony X800H may be just what you need. With Android TV and connectivity for Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, it’s easy to use your TV hands-free or use it to play music or start playing your favorite show.
You’ll also see your shows and games in as much detail as possible, thanks to Sony’s X1 HDR processor. This feature removes excess noise and gives you incredibly lifelike video. The color and saturation on the X800H are fantastic as well, standing out for its bright and accurate color portrayal. It also uses Dolby Vision and Triluminos display technologies to ensure detail and color really pop. However, black hues don’t seem to have the same richness as other colors on the screen.
Even if you’re new to smart TVs, the control panels are intuitive and you’ll quickly learn how to make best use of your new device.
